The tax season is upon us. One of the most frequent scams that many unfortunately fall victim to, is one involving subjects posing as IRS representatives. The IRS will NEVER initiate contact with taxpayers via e-mail, text messages or social media channels and will NEVER request personal or financial information.
If an unsolicited communication is received, do not provide any personal information such as: social security number, credit card, or bank account numbers. Additionally, the IRS or any legitimate company, will never ask to pay debts off with gift cards, via Western Union, or anything similar.
